Caring For Your Aluminium Frames

Outdoor aluminium furniture is designed to be durable and weather-resistant, but regular cleaning will keep it looking its best.

During colder months or periods of storage, frames may collect dust, dirt, or grime. To clean:

• Use warm soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth
• Gently wipe down all surfaces to remove dirt
• Rinse with clean water if needed
• Allow frames to air dry (typically within an hour)

Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these may damage the finish.

Routine Maintenance

To maintain your furniture in top condition:

• Clean frames every few weeks during frequent use
• Check for any loose fittings or screws and tighten if necessary
• Remove debris such as leaves or standing water regularly

Cushion Care

• Store cushions in a dry, ventilated area when not in use
• Light stains can usually be removed with mild soap and water

Weather Protection

Aluminium is rust-resistant, but protecting your furniture will extend its lifespan:

• Use a protective cover during harsh weather or long periods of non-use
• Ensure furniture is completely dry before covering

Preventing Damage

• Avoid dragging furniture across rough surfaces
• Use coasters or mats to prevent marks from hot items or spills

Cleaning Your Outdoor Fabric Cushions

For everyday spills and marks:

• Clean immediately using warm soapy water
• Use a soft cloth or sponge to gently wipe the area
• Most spills will lift easily due to the fabric’s protective properties

For general cleaning after periods of outdoor exposure:

• Use a jet washer on a low/soft setting
• Keep a safe distance to avoid damaging the fabric
• Follow up with a specialist cleaning solution, such as the Maze Outdoor Fabric Cleaning & Protector Kit, to restore the fabric’s finish

Removing Stubborn Stains

For tougher stains that won’t lift with standard cleaning:

Mix:

• 150ml bleach
• 40ml mild soap
• 2 litres of water

• Apply gently to the affected area using a cloth or soft brush
• Rinse thoroughly with clean water

Tip: Always test on a small, hidden area first to ensure colour retention.

Drying Your Furniture

• Allow cushions and fabric to air dry naturally after cleaning or rainfall
• Drying time will vary depending on:
  • Weather conditions
  • Humidity
  • Sunlight exposure

The quick-dry properties of the fabric help prevent prolonged dampness.

Caring for Aluminium Frames

During winter or storage, aluminium frames may collect dust and dirt:

• Clean using warm soapy water and a sponge
• Rinse if necessary and allow to air dry (typically within an hour)

Cleaning Ceramic Tempered Glass

Outdoor glass surfaces may gather dust or mildew over time:

• Clean with a warm soapy cloth
• Use a separate damp cloth to polish and remove residue
• Allow to air dry for a streak-free finish

A dedicated glass cleaner, such as the Maze Outdoor Garden Furniture Glass Cleaner, can be used for enhanced results.

General Maintenance Tips

• Clean your set regularly to prevent build-up of dirt and mildew
• Use protective covers during prolonged periods of non-use if desired
• Ensure furniture is dry before covering
• Avoid harsh abrasives or strong chemicals (unless specified for stain removal)

Caring for Your Rattan

Rattan furniture is designed for outdoor durability, but it will naturally collect dirt and dust—especially after winter storage or when kept under covers.

To clean your rattan furniture:

• Use a jet wash to rinse off loose dirt and debris
• Gently clean with a sponge and warm soapy water
• Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry

For a deeper clean, you can also use a specialist rattan cleaning kit designed for outdoor furniture.

Does Rattan Expand and Contract?

Yes—this is completely normal.

Rattan naturally expands in warmer temperatures and contracts as it cools. This flexibility:

• Helps prevent the weave from becoming brittle
• Reduces the risk of cracking or snapping during colder months

This is a key feature of quality rattan furniture and helps maintain its structure over time.

Cushion Care

Cleaning Your Cushions

To keep your cushions fresh and clean:

• Use warm soapy water and a clean cloth for spot cleaning
• Gently wipe down the fabric and remove any dirt or marks
• Allow cushions to air dry completely before use

Important:

• Cushions are not machine washable
• Do not tumble dry

To clean:

• Wipe with a warm soapy cloth to remove dirt

For best results, a specialist outdoor glass cleaner can be used to maintain clarity and shine.
