We recommend the following:

400 mm³ Concrete Pad: The ideal foundation for maximum stability. It sits hidden beneath your final surface (tiles, decking, turf), allowing you to drill directly through for secure anchoring.

Tarmac, Slabs, or Block Paving: If the surface is under 150 mm thick or made of unknown composite material, lift the area and install a 400 mm³ postcrete pad underneath before mounting.

Decking: Can be installed directly onto secure decking, but due to wood/composite movement, a concrete pad or structural joist must be positioned beneath each footplate site.

Grass, Soil, or Gravel: A 400 mm³ postcrete pad is strictly required underneath every leg/footplate when fixing into loose ground.
PLEASE NOTE: We recommend fully opening the blinds during strong winds to help prevent damage and prolong their lifespan. Accessories, including privacy blinds and furniture, are NOT included.

How To Care For Your Maze Aluminium Pergola
Our aluminium pergolas are designed to be low maintenance and made from high-quality, powder-coated aluminium that is UV resistant and suitable for outdoor use.
With a little regular care, your pergola will continue to look great and perform as intended for years to come.
Cleaning Your Pergola
For general cleaning, simply use a soft cloth or sponge with warm water and a mild soap solution.
We recommend regularly removing:
- Leaves and other garden debris
- Dirt and dust
- Bird droppings
- Any other build-up from the frame and louvres
Once cleaned, rinse with clean water and allow the pergola to dry naturally.
Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, wire brushes or scouring pads, as these may damage the powder-coated finish.
Built-In Drainage
Maze pergolas feature an integrated drainage system which channels rainwater through the pergola frame and down through the inside of the posts.
There is no need to open the louvres to drain rainwater.
It is important, however, to keep the drainage channels and outlets clear of leaves, dirt and other debris.
We recommend checking the drainage system regularly, particularly after periods of heavy rain or during autumn when leaves can accumulate.
Rain & Weather
Our pergolas are designed to provide shelter from normal British weather conditions.
When the louvres are closed, the roof provides protection from rain, while the integrated drainage system directs water away through the posts.
Please remember that wind-driven rain and particularly heavy rainfall can result in some water ingress, as the pergola is an outdoor shelter rather than a fully enclosed, watertight structure.
Strong Winds
Extreme weather conditions can put additional stress on your pergola and its accessories.
If your pergola is fitted with privacy or drop-side blinds, we recommend fully opening the blinds during strong winds to help prevent damage and prolong their lifespan.
Do not operate the louvres if they are obstructed by snow, ice or debris.
Damage caused by extreme weather conditions, including storm damage and high winds, is not covered under the Maze guarantee.
Caring For The Powder-Coated Finish
The powder-coated aluminium frame is designed to resist rust and withstand normal outdoor exposure.
Over time, exposure to sunlight and the elements may naturally cause some change in appearance.
Regular cleaning will help maintain the finish.
For minor scratches or areas where the powder coating has been damaged, Maze may be able to provide touch-up paint where appropriate. Cosmetic damage such as scratches or flaking of the powder coating is not covered under the structural warranty.
LED Lighting
Where your pergola is fitted with integrated LED lighting:
- Keep the electrical connections clean and dry.
- Do not use abrasive products when cleaning around the lights.
- Do not pull, bend or damage the lighting cables.
- Do not attempt to modify or repair the electrical system yourself.
Fixings & Installation
Your pergola must be securely fixed to a suitable solid base.
We recommend that pergolas are bolted to a concrete base. Paving slabs that are not secured to a suitable solid foundation may lift in windy conditions and are therefore not considered suitable for fixing the pergola.
The pergola should also be installed on level ground to ensure the louvres and any drop-side blinds operate correctly.
Pergolas that have not been correctly installed or securely bolted down may not be covered under the Maze guarantee.
Winter Care
Your aluminium pergola can remain outdoors throughout the year.
Before winter, we recommend:
- Giving the frame and louvres a thorough clean.
- Clearing all drainage channels and outlets.
- Removing leaves and debris from the roof and gutters.
- Checking that the louvres operate correctly.
- Checking for any visible damage or loose fixings.
If you have blinds fitted, keep them fully open during periods of strong winds.
Standard Delivery
Please allow our courier partners 10 working days to deliver your item(s) to your delivery address. After your order has been dispatched, you will then receive further communication from Maze Living or our courier partners providing you with further details of your delivery. 'Standard delivery', on orders containing small accessories only, will be delivered by DX or a similar courier. Orders including large items will be delivered by a 2-man team who will carry your items to a place of your choice, outside, if accessible.
Pallet Delivery
If it is available and you change the delivery to a 'Pallet Delivery', your order can be delivered in as little as 2-3 working days (cut off for 2 days is 11am every weekday). Pallet deliveries differ in that your order will be left kerbside on pallets outside your address and does not include any optional extra services or pallet disposal. By selecting this option, you agree to this, and that a large lorry can access the road outside your property. You may need a minimum of 2 people to move large/heavy items.
However.... stock can run out fast at times so keep an eye out for the 'Going Fast' badge. This is genuine and means we really are running out of stock.
Pergola Build & Bolt Down Service -
1 x build for 3m x 4m Pergola - including a Bolt Down service
All pergolas should be bolted down to the ground so as not to lift, buckle in strong winds, or cause harm to buildings or people!
We advise a firm ground fixing is used for this pergola, ideally bolted to a concrete base. The delivery destination must be level and safe for the crew to navigate around (we will not assemble around hot tubs or large non moving equipment that could cause health and safety issues).
A bolt down damage waiver must be signed before installation. This is against damage to your flooring or to the pergola if it is damaged by not bolting it to the floor as recommended. You will be responsible for securing the pergola to the floor/ground if you sign to say that you do not want us to do it

The footplates are 20cm 2 ( and if you are wanting to bolt you must have 20cm deep concrete )

whats the USB for if its solar powered?

Thank you for your question.
The USB is used to charge the pergola lights additionally to the solar panels. The panels don't rely on sunlight, only daylight to work but the USB serves as a backup!
